Spring (2010)
The summer heat burns
Tar roads stretching for miles
So no one dares to walk
For fear of the journey ahead
.
The autumn breeze sweeps by
Hurried phantoms push by each other
In opposite directions going nowhere
Not noticing the last leaf falling from the tree
.
The winter chills the bones
That holds the heart in its cage
Rattling to find an escape
From the ocean of suffering
.
Then spring appears.
.
It brings ease to begin a pilgrimage,
Blossoms to stop and admire,
Warmth to thaw indifference,
So love can float gently in the air.
.
Yet, in time, spring will leave.
.
But by then I will be ready
To march through the burning trials of life,
To appreciate every encounter that passes by,
To part the ocean from the core of my being.
.
Before spring reappears once again.
