Troubled (2005)

Sadness dwells within the heart
As tears become the fluids of the body.

The shadow of hate is sorrow
As the past merges with tomorrow.

All around the bustle of life rushes by,
But all you see is the flashbacks of days gone by.

Angry at what you had lost,
Upset at what you would have got.

Measuring life with scales and spoons,
Counting all your darkened wounds.

You wake up one morning,
You’ve had enough.

You sigh to yourself.
You give up.

You look at the girl in the mirror.
She is smiling through her tears,

She is saying that she will forgive.
But her heart is still clenching.

She feels so violated.

“Give away the stone, let the water kiss and transmute this leaded anger into gold.”

She floats on the sea of tears, face up.

“The past is already gone, and tomorrow hasn’t come.”

All we have is a continuous present.

She stares at the clouds floating by. It doesn’t matter where they have been.

Only that they are here now.

Loss and gain are only a matter of perspective.
Self-centredness is the state of having only one perspective.

Throw away the scales and spoons,
Life is infinite and immeasurable.

The wounds are darkened; the pain belongs to yesterday.
What is hurting is not what was done, but your attachment to it.

It relives in your mind, and dwells in your heart.
You look at the girl in the mirror.

She is crying happy tears,
She has learnt that “letting go” is more than to forgive.
