Khmer Rouge
I visited the Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum, and the bareness of the place allowed one’s imagination to go wild. The place used to be a high school until the Khmer Rouge regime (1975-1979) used it as the notorious Security Prison 21 (S-21).
The remnants of the Khmer Rouge regimes can still be felt and seen. A shadow of loss and fear hangs over Phnom Penh. A whole generation lost from the regime, people living to the ripe old age is in the far minority.

and what are our generations lost to in our educational shrines?, perhaps not as visceral or obvious, but maybe more insidious, leaving its partcipants alive but hollowed of life
