Just Married

Not me, don’t worry.

In many Western countries, we are marrying and having children later and later in life. But in Phnom Penh, I was surrounded by enthusiastic young women in their twenties – many married, some with kids! I was fascinated as they educated me on the women of Cambodia and other South-East Asian countries where women marry when they are quite young, around 16-20. A few looked at me expectedly when they were sharing their stories about their husbands and kids. I just smiled, “Pass the salt please?”
